Lately I’ve been thinking about outsourcing some of my project takeoffs. Between client meetings, site work, and chasing material prices, there’s barely any time left to sit and crunch numbers properly.
I’ve seen a few estimation companies in USA offering detailed takeoffs and cost breakdowns, but I’m not sure how accurate they really are. Some people say it saves a ton of time, others think it’s better to keep everything in-house.
So I’m wondering has anyone here actually used one of these companies? Did it really help with budgeting and bids, or was it more trouble than it’s worth? Just trying to figure out if outsourcing estimates actually pays off.
